A: Each dressing comes with an extra adhesive strip designed to cover the side cut completely after the dressing is placed around the catheter. This seals the seam firmly to create a secure, protective barrier against external contaminants.
Q: What type of adhesive is used, and will it cause skin trauma during removal?
A: The dressing utilizes a high-quality acrylic adhesive border that provides a strong and stable bond to keep the drainage tube securely in place. It is designed to maintain reliable adhesion while prioritizing patient comfort during wear and removal.
Q: Is the application process complicated for nursing staff?
A: Not at all. It is engineered as a simple, one-step application process. Staff simply remove the extra adhesive, slide the pre-cut dressing around the tube, peel the release liner to adhere it to the skin, and apply the extra strip over the side seam.
Q: Does the dressing allow the skin to breathe?
A: Yes. The polyurethane foam dressing is permeable to air. This permeability allows proper air circulation, which helps prevent the growth of harmful anaerobic bacteria at the insertion site.
